2008 Baron Hill Congressional Campaign Website
In 2006 and 2008, I teamed up with Erik Johnson (Graphic Designer) to develop Baron Hill’s (9th District of Indiana) Congressional Campaign websites. I designed the layout and the content management system from scratch, which allowed the campaign team to manage the entire website using my backend solution.
This was the biggest project that I’ve ever worked on, and by far the best result of anything. It really shows what can be done when you couple a good developer and web designer with a great graphic artist. In 2008, this site was by far above and beyond the competition, enhanced the campaigns brand, and helped them raise a great deal of money through donations via the website.
Best thing of all, Baron won in 2006 and 2008!
Jacobs / Schneider – Interior Design (In Development)
This website, which is currently in the final stage of development, is an online brochure and portfolio website for a local interior design company. The online portfolio has two distinct user interface elements – a horizontal scroll and a fancybox image gallery feature. The client had the idea of dedicating separate ‘sections’ for each of their different types of work – be it kitchens and baths, or architectural designs. This is instead of the normal single page photo gallery. To implement this, I have allowed users to scroll horizontally through different ‘sections’ and launch the galleries individually.
Indy ISACA Web Portal
IndyISACA was looking for a completely minimal design, as their previous designer had so many images that page never loaded timely. I did just that, with a great deal of functionality built in for event registration, content management, and job postings. They also had no web experience so I implemented this site using the Joomla! content management system.
Joomla is a great content management system, and now that I have learned to completely customized the look and feel, I will be using it a lot more. Unlike WordPress, templates are few and far between, so once you have learned to customize and develop your own, it becomes a better option in my opinion for any non blog website.
Crescent Construction
This simple brochure website I created when I was working full time for PwC in corporate IT consulting. They needed a very simple website that reflected the brand that they had already come up with. I designed and developed this website from scratch using XHTML and CSS, with a little flash per client request.
Home Debt Relief Indy
During the economic downturn, I helped a local startup develop their brand and website. For this site, I worked without a true graphic artist which was a challenge but one I have come used to due to budget reasons. The beauty of this site was not in the design, but in the backend database that was built to gather and collect information from users of the site, and then provide homedebt with the ability to login to the backend and export the data to excel. I also built in bullet proof form validation using Adobe’s Spry Framework – which was very usable and prevented any spamming of the forms – which ultimately enhanced the quality of data we provided to the client.
Unfortunately this business is no longer with us so the site is down. Nonetheless still proud of the work.
